Knowing Your Numbers: Three
In my Knowing Your Numbers series, those who are new to numerology get to see how spiritual numbers work and manifest in our world; those who are familiar with numerology will get a nice refresher, with extras! In this post, we’ll be going over the number three.
You're probably already familiar with threes: in various cultures around the world, they're associated with creation, creativity, and the divine. Those who practice Christianity or live in a Christian-dominant culture are familiar with the Holy Trinity. In certain parts of the West, we have the phrase "third time's the charm."
As numerology would have it, turns out that there is a magical aspect to doing things in threes.
To the numerologist, 3 energy is the whirling wheel of wonder that makes things happen. It takes the drive of 1 and raw creative potential of the 2 and brings things into being. In that sense, humans are so lucky as to have a 9-month gestation period: threes ensure our development, and we get it thrice over.
When in an adverse state, 3 energy can promote immaturity and poor planning, and it can have folks moving from one pretty, shiny thing to the next. Aggravated 3 energy can make it hard to focus, commit to one path (or person), or put in the work that is required them: it's a playful energy that can inspire us to be joyful and open-minded, but too much can sour a good thing. Imbalanced threes can present a big challenge especially when we're grown - or supposed to be growing up.
Manifestations in Numerology
Life Path: Folks with an LP-3 are here to express themselves and cosmic truths as much as they can, to see what happens when they turn their life into a playground of opportunity and beauty. However, in so doing, they will often be challenged on matters of tying up loose ends and keeping their egos in check. In maintaining a robust connection to their inner truth, they have a direct line to possibilities and dimensions that others couldn’t even dream of.
Expression: Folks with an Expression Number of 3 have a knack for bringing light, optimism, and positivity into any situation, and can almost always rely on their megawatt smile and youthful humor to navigate social situations. They will be placed repeatedly in situations where their creativity and communication gifts are center stage, such as journalism or the performing arts, where they'll thrive. Or? For a number of them, marketing might be more their thing. Those with 3 as their expression number must be able to communicate and share, or they tend to suffer frustration and blockages (even professionally) as a result.
Personality: People with a Personality Number of 3 run the gamut of perception from ageless wizards to eternal children. If they're chooses to act as shallow or imperceptive as people may tend to assume they are, they lose out on opportunities for emotional fulfillment. But if they're willing to take a beat to look at things and people with a more careful, discerning eye, they tend to find themselves able to get back to joy with the right people, in the right places, at the right time.
Birthday: Folks with a Birthday Number of 3 seem to walk around in the equivalent of astral glitter. They can count on their confidence to pull them through, even when they're wrong. It's the birthday number of the incredibly foolhardy who always seem to make it out of trouble.
Things to Take Advantage Of
Cheeriness, optimism, a natural inclination towards childlike wonder and play. Feed that natural curiosity to stay youthful. There's a special and incredible power that 3 lends to those who have it in relation to just living in one's truth, whatever that truth is. 3 folks also tend to be stellar performers, and are strongly encouraged to get on out there. Depending on the details of individual destiny, it's often the 3 folks who help us let our guard down enough to learn new things, especially the new thing brought about via other numbers. Take heavy advantage of the uncanny ability to render hefty or dense concepts more digestible for the world at large, to apply social lubricant to any tough situation, and the capacity unlock doors otherwise sealed shut.
Things to Be Mindful Of
3 folks run the risk of being perpetually distracted. On an interpersonal level, this can manifest as indecision and/or infidelity (seriously), superficiality, and chronic challenges with integrity and follow-through. It may seem boring to settle in and get work done - rather than leave that to the 4-bearers - but there's much to be learned through completion for people with a lot of 3 energy. Be careful of flightiness and naivete especially, as that childlike wonder can lead 3 folks to learn, over and over, that fire burns and that ovens are hot. Also, because 3 energy can make folks a little slippery about responsibility, those who have it should make extra effort to face their fears and try their best to fulfill their promises and commitments. Owning up to faults can have the effect of literal magic for these people.
