Knowing Your Numbers: Seven

In my Knowing Your Numbers series, those who are new to numerology get to see how spiritual numbers work and manifest in our world; those who are familiar with numerology will get a nice refresher, with extras! In this post, we’ll be going over the number seven.

For those raised in a Christian or culturally-Christian home, community, or country, 7 is associated with divine completion (“And on the 7th day, the Lord rested,” etc.). But in Numerology? 7 is just getting things started! If 6 makes us feel safe enough to retreat and reflect upon our lives, 7 gives us the mental fortitude and whatever else is needed to actually go forth and prosper, go forth and put in that work, and so on. It is the number in which spiritual alchemy truly comes to the fore. And while not a common assertion, I have seen it work as the number of the artist who processes their experiences through their work. This process also seems to magnetize them, drawing in whatever they need in order to complete it.

When we have strayed too far from the life-giving waters and mysteries kept safe by 2 energy, 7 gives us what we need to turn back, if necessary; to dig deep, if necessary; to ask questions, if necessary, and it usually is. Perhaps most importantly, it helps us remember the mysteries that we were born with. Those who are in a Personal Year 7, for example, may be more inclined to do past-life research, for example, as they learn more about themselves, their gifts, and what they came here to do.

Because 7 is initiatory energy, it is also the most dangerous - in some initiatory cultures, this danger is literal. This is because when in an adverse expression, 7 energy can encourage drowning in selfishness, illusions, delusion, and false consciousness. It can aggravate self-deception, leading us to think that we’re seeing “the truth” when we haven’t done the work to push past our own biases, insecurities, and fears. Aggravated 7 energy can also lead us to detach entirely from worldly affairs, neglecting our basic needs in service of philosophical pursuits or ego strokes. Again - because 7 represents initiation, some level of detachment from the world as we know it is not just appropriate, but a requirement. It is in excess that the initiation fails.

Manifestations in Numerology

Life Path: This is the LP of someone who has returned to prepare themselves for another incarnation cycle. They may have spent many lifetimes distancing themselves or running away from critical truths, or humanity in general. LP-7 will challenge the person who has it to attain higher levels of spiritual awareness and wisdom. They will be called to transform and undergo some sort of initiation all lifetime long, uncovering answers to questions not just about the world, but also that which lies beyond it. This is why those who are LP-7s often end up in the arts, the sciences, or any other philosophical pursuit.

Expression: Those who have an Expression Number of 7 have highly-analytical minds that help them to surmount any obstacle and complete any task. Spatial brilliance is highly likely. To achieve their destiny, folks who have this Expression Number can rely on their intellect, their willingness to deep-dive into any subject matter, and their natural drive to seek the unknown. While LP-7s may end up in the arts, sciences and philosophical professions, those who have 7 as their Expression Number are most likely to thrive by achieving their destiny through those things. Art helps them process.

Personality: People with Personality Number 7 may be perceived as shy or withdrawn, regardless of the state of their inner life. They may also be regularly placed in situations, opportunities, and dynamics with others based on the perception they’re probably happier in intellectual or otherwise low-contact pursuits. If they cultivate a willingness to not take things personally - and to understand why others perceive them this way - those who’d rather have a different impression can come out of their (usually) self-imposed isolation and connect with as many people as they wish. If they’d rather be left alone, however, so be it...they just need to avoid being too much of a hermit. There is also a high risk of people feeling inherently “entitled” to stealing the 7-bearer’s possessions or crossing their boundaries.

Birthday: folks who were born into 7 energy often have this otherworldly aura, and may literally be heralded to other people by signs and omens - something I’ve known to be true via personal and anecdotal experience. They may also be a natural magnet for occult or otherwise strange phenomena, which they may or may not choose to take full advantage of, no matter their life path. People with a Birthday Number of 7 may often discover that people can’t help but tell them the truth…or the complete opposite.

Things to Take Advantage Of

Natural inquisitiveness, intellect, and thoughtfulness. 7-bearing folks make great initiators once they have undergone enough trials of their own, successfully ushering others through their own experiences. They have a natural disposition towards mysteries and, honestly, a talent for uncovering the concealed. Used wisely, 7 energy can help them make breakthroughs in recovering mystic knowledge and technology, scientific endeavors, and medical research. Further, they should utilize their strong connection to Spirit to bless and support others, not just themselves; this conscious participation in what I call a "giving loom" assures that even if they feel they should be alone, they will have plenty guides on their journey - self-imposed or otherwise.

Those with 7 energy would also be wise to take advantage of their ability to draw upon spiritual support, as well as any natural gifts for direct perception, to act in peace-brokering or mediating capacities. Some of them have the ability to simply look at a person and Know what must be said or done, spiritually downloading data as they go. This is because they're not just Seekers; they're Seers first, and what they can perceive often leads them to go exploring to find out more. People who have 7 among their numbers make excellent translators - whether in human languages, between humans and non-incarnate beings, or of concepts not readily accessible to others. If in a bit of a problem-solving jam, folks with 7 energy can try to "process" the problem through a creative work, whether it's a painting or a poem doodled on a notebook.

Things to Avoid

Myopia, cynicism, and what can only be aptly described as “false ego death.” There is the risk of the person who carries 7 energy of getting lost in their studies, their process, or their initiation, or settling on a false conclusion after failing to shed their biases. For this reason, 7 folks are encouraged to cultivate patience; move too quickly or hold onto a concept too tightly, and they might lock in on the wrong judgment and assume it final. They are discouraged from taking their seeker nature as more important than remaining connected to this dimension or other human beings; else they will find themselves perhaps more lonely and isolated than they had planned to be when they started, or terribly off-path. Mental health maintenance should be top priority for people who have 7 energy in some capacity, as their minds are powerful and subsequently require extra effort to maintain.
