Knowing Your Numbers: One
In my Knowing Your Numbers series, those who are new to numerology get to see how spiritual numbers work and manifest in our world; those who are familiar with numerology will get a nice refresher, with extras! In this post, we’ll be going over the number one.
Even in very old divinatory systems, such as I Ching and Ifa divination, 1 is represented by pure light. Ones are associated with creative spark, drive, and ambition. It is the number of incredible speed, lightning-quick development, and advancement. Because it is pure light energy, it also promotes insight, clarity, and enlightenment. It is the number that many most strongly associate with Source, unification, and the creator in its ultimate state.
Yet for every strong positive, there is a challenging aspect. In an adverse orientation, ones can drag forward - even if in the wrong direction - and become destructive in ways that only forward motion can achieve. People with a lot of 1 energy tend to take no prisoners in conflict, and are unrelenting in their pursuit of victory (even at the expense of those who trust them). 1 energy can also blindside, sometimes literally, and encourage one-track-mindedness. Also, it can encourage the sacrifice of the collective for the sake of selfish interests. Ideologies such as populism, and ethnocentrism can be exacerbated under 1’s numerological influence. People who carry a lot of 1 energy must therefore strive to practice humility, cultivate humanitarian interests, and be very mindful not to steamroll over others in the achievement of their goals, which they almost always will - except when the higher lesson trumps achievement.
Manifestations in Numerology
When looking at your numbers laid bare, let’s see some of the ways in which 1 energy can manifest:
Life Path: a destiny characterized by numerous opportunities for leadership, innovation, and creation; Life Path (LP) 1 folks often incarnate to plant collective seeds that can be cultivated by the spiritual energy of those with an LP-2. LP-1s also incarnate, at least in part, to learn the lessons of ethical and responsible leadership and trailblazing, and fair use of their laser-like focus. They will often be given control over a great number of things - how they decide to exercise that control determines whether they gain the freedom they often inherently seek, or their higher self tightens their grip and enforces the lesson through losses.
Expression: folks with an Expression Number 1 will be expected to lead or prepare others, but that position of leadership will likely come directly in the context or the correct expression of their LP - whatever that LP actually is. They tend towards pioneering, but should be careful about blazing past their peers without consideration for their feelings. They should maintain awareness of their inherent ability to set trends, standards, and precedents.
Personality: folks with a Personality Number 1 are often seen as (or become) the go-to person for major community and family endeavors, even when actively trying to shy away from the spotlight. There is also the risk of being perceived as arrogant, stand-offish, and isolationist. Those who have 1 as their personality number can offset these challenges through sharing and delegation, practicing mindfulness to check their predisposition towards racing thoughts connect with others and invest in their well-being.
Birthday: being born into 1 energy grants the burst of drive necessary to get things done. Those whose Birthday Number is 1 probably had a physical birth that had either unexpected turns or was fairly quick. The childhood of someone with 1 as their birthday number tends to be marked by numerous early milestones. They also tend to be or serve as heads of households; in my experience, those who have this as a birthday number are returned ancestors who are expected to draw upon repeated incarnations as leaders are expected in order to solve major family issues.
Things to Take Advantage Of
Seemingly inexhaustible focus, a bent towards finding new frontiers, innovation especially in times of lack or scarcity. Celebrate originality and creativity especially. While 1 energy does not lend itself towards pensiveness as a 7 or 8 might, it’s fantastic for investigation. Someone with 1-dominant energy makes a fantastic detective, ensuring that truth comes to light with surprising efficacy. Similarly, 1 people are excellent at decision-making, whether after fact-finding efforts or when relying purely on instinct.
Things to Be Mindful Of
Dogmatism, obsessions, opportunism, arrogance, extremism and all-or-nothing attitudes are among the risks of having 1 energy in an aggravated expression. Learn to accept defeat graciously, and learn the power of deference. Also, there can be a tendency towards impatience and overworking: slow down, and appreciate all that life has to offer! Some with 1 dominant energy may have a tendency towards consuming as much as possible (physically or otherwise) with very little actually being absorbed.
